Our Story
When I was a child, my mom used to bake cakes for my little siblings and me. And I was stunned for the whole process where every step was fascinating to my eyes. She used to bake all the cakes from scratch and mix them by hand in a very big plastic green bowl. It used to be more than a couple of hours just to bake a cake, but it was well worth it. The results always were delicious and mouth watering.
She used to prepare all the ingredients on the table and then she sit on her chair next to it with her big green bowl starting to mix the butter to make it soft. Then my little brothers, sister and myself where the one putting the ingredients inside the bowl meanwhile my mom was mixing everything at low pace. We had so much fun doing it. My siblings and I were always waiting for the exciting moment when my mom would put the batter on the cake pan and we would be able to eat the leftovers from the green bowl walls. After that, the time used to go slower for us because we couldn't wait until that great instant where my mom would take the cake out from the oven. Oh that delicious smell! It's still on my mind.
My grandmother was also very sweet oriented. She was not only the sweetest and lovely person I have ever known, but also she always had something sweet to offer to any who visited her. Desserts, cookies and all kind of sweet treats were always on her table. I remember her making some of those for me like if it were yesterday. She was in front of the stove holding her wood spoon mixing the sweets to get them to the right point. Sweet memories.
The first time I tried to make a cake and decorated it, I was like ten years old. My mom helped me to bake the cake and I decorated it. I made a huge mess on her kitchen, but it was great that she let me do it by myself. It was a big clown cake for my little brother's birthday party. It was so hot (over 100 F) that the icing on the cake melt down. It was a disaster! To make it look presentable, I put some candy on the top. My little brother was so happy and all his little friends were amazed for the cake. Someway they loved it! They destroyed in a couple of minutes, I mean, they devoured it! And all the family was so glad for the clown I made by myself for my brother's celebration. There is nothing like family!
There were several years later before I tried to do it seriously again. This time, it was for my son.

How It All Started
When my son had his 1st Birthday, our celebration became complicated when we discovered that he was allergic to milk. He was trying to eat and have fun with his "smash cake", but could not really enjoy it because of the reaction.
That made me realize that I would like to do something for my son so he could really have fun with a cake of his own, one he could actually eat! Then I took all the courses available and my new trip into Cake Decorating started. By mid 2009, I went from basic cakes and fun cupcakes to fondant, and I learned how to make them for my little one and have fun at the same time.
Just a couple of months later, my "Godzilla Cake" became one of the top 5 finalists of the "Creative Cake Contest" from "Cookie Magazine", in September 2009. It was great to share that honor with such an amazing group of experienced bakers and decorators.
I have dedicated myself to learning new skills and to put my creativity into practice, not only for my precious son but for all of my family and friends.
